Personal Information

• Raised in Europe and Washington D.C. area

• Parents were military. Father (from Lynn, MA) was a career Army officer; Mother (from La Jolla, CA) was a Naval officer in World War II and then a civilian in Japan after the war. They met and married in Japan

• Oldest of six children

• Undergraduate degree from University of Maryland (College Park); Master's degree from West Virginia University; Ph.D. from Purdue University

• Live in Austin, Texas where I teach at the University of Texas at Austin

• Married with four childen
