John Daly is the Liddell Professor of Communication in the Moody College of Communication, the TCB Professor in the McCombs School of Business, and both University of Texas at Austin and University of Texas System Distinguished Teaching Professor.

He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, his MA from West Virginia University, and his Ph.D. from Purdue University. He has taught at the University of Texas for many years. While at Texas he has won every University-wide undergraduate teaching award.

He has published more than 120 research articles and chapters and produced a number of books. He has served on the editorial boards of numerous academic journals as well as being the editor of Communication Education and co-editor of Written Communication. His academic vita is here.

He served as President of the National Communication Association, Chair of the Council of Communication Associations, and on the Board of both the International Communication Association and the International Customer Service Association.

He is a Fellow of the International Communication Association and a National Communication Association Distinguished Scholar. He has won disciplinary awards for both his teaching and research.
